While there are times that this is quite good, I also considered stopping watching it a half dozen times. The central performance(s) of the title character, a "girly boy" who grows up to be a Cher drag queen, is generally solid, but some of the supporting performances are amateurish. The zigzagging timeline is both intriguing and off-putting, and there are definitely some sad and/or dark moments. It was worth watching once, but I don't know that I'd want to see it again.
One of the saddest parts is the end credit that this is dedicated to the memory of writer-director Margo Pelletier, who died of cancer in the November after this debuted in film festivals.
