Apparently, there was nothing funnier to Chinese peasants of a century ago or so than a marriage between total strangers. Based of course on the Pearl S. Buck novel and with four directors, most of them uncredited: Sidney Franklin, Victor Fleming, Gustav Machaty, and Sam Wood.
