I gave a C to the Carrie Fisher partly autobiographical novel (reviewed here https://rereadingeverybookiown.blogspot.com/2013/03/postcards-from-edge.html), and I don't think what did work translates to screen (even by Fisher herself), at least in the quarter hour I watched.  Still, I bumped this up from a D+ because the nightmare with a Nancy Reagan lookalike made me smile.  Mike Nichols directed.

Redford and Hackman have some sort of past, no, not that kind, in the world of skiing.  This is based on Oakley Hall's novel The Downhill Racers and directed by Michael Ritchie.  And it's the fifth Gene H. movie I've rejected, although the earliest released.

Not only is this a Simpson-Bruckheimer movie about the military, but characters' obnoxiousness is presented as wit.  Still, it wasn't racist or violent (just sexist) in the first quarter hour.  Tony Scott directed.

This is the fourth Gene Hackman film I've rejected, and with each one I thank God that Robert Reed snagged the Mike Brady role.

Well, a quarter hour of this (out of three hours!) wasn't too painful, mostly because I sort of liked the wry humor and other personal elements.  Nonetheless, it's a movie about planning a phase of World War II, and that's not really going to hold my interest, even with the promise of stars ranging from Robert Redford to John Ratzenberger.

William Goldman adapted the Cornelius Ryan novel.  Richard Attenborough directed.
