I avoided this movie for years, mostly because it looked incredibly misogynist.  I will say that the first quarter hour wasn't as bad as I feared, although still bad of course, reminding me of my low tolerance for Jack Nicholson.  This is based on the Ken Kesey novel and directed by Milos Forman.

This remains a very strange film, even knowing the backstory.  From the young Jack Nicholson cameo to the very New-Yorky-looking Los Angeles to the comedy style (including the obvious Dragnet parody), it is definitely unsettling, and that's not even getting into the hungry plant.  I wouldn't say this is a great film, but it is certainly entertaining, and at times even sweet.  Roger Corman directed and co-wrote.

I've tried to watch this a couple times over the years, but even if the aimlessness is the point, it's hard to find a place to plant yourself and watch it unfold, as I think you can with, for instance, Magical Mystery Tour, which has better music anyway.  I tuned out before the celeb cameos, as I usually do.  The Monkees co-wrote with Jack Nicholson and director Bob Rafelson.

Two seriously ill men (Nicholson and Freeman) meet in a hospital room and hilarity ensues.  I assume, since I tuned out after fifteen minutes, glad to, yes, cross seeing this movie off my bucket list.  (And that was only because of Easy A.)  Still, it's always nice to get Freeman narration.  Rob Reiner directed.
