I was actually not a fan of the original Chevy Chase series, but I gave this a shot, since the cast sounded interesting. I tuned out before most of them showed up though.  The younger son is so obnoxious, and the overall humor so cringe (and not funny cringe), only Lindsey Buckingham could bump this up from a D.  John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein co-directed and co-wrote, and in 2018 they'd do the far superior Game Night.

Violent but not "too violent," dark but not "too dark," gross but not "too gross," this is sometimes laugh-out-loud funny and in sweet in its own warped way.  Bateman works well as the lead, paired perfectly with McAdams, with able support, especially from Plemons, who's like Matt Damon's brother but somewhere on "the spectrum."  John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein co-directed.
