While the story isn't bad, I just wasn't invested enough in it, and the rape joke (from Mrs. Edison no less!) didn't help.  Norman Taurog directed, a couple years after Boys Town.

I admittedly haven't seen a lot of Spencer Tracy movies (Adam's Rib, Father of the Bride, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner are the only three that come to mind besides now this one), but I think he may well have been the most over-rated actor of his generation, if not of the twentieth century.  I actually winced at his performance in the first quarter hour of this "classic."  I didn't stick around for Mickey Rooney.  Norman Taurog directed.
