This is the earliest of three PA movies packaged with Loaded Weapon on a "cop comedy" collection, so, yes, we're still in the Co's. It's a series I've been aware of since the time but I don't think I've ever seen more than a few minutes total before this entry, apparently the first without Steve Guttenberg. I found it surprisingly flat and even the recognizable faces (including a non-Cajun post-M*A*S*H G.W. Bailey and a non-sexpot post-Laverne-and-Shirley Leslie Easterbrook) couldn't capture my interest. I do like that the cast is biracial though.
I'm crediting Gene Quintano, since he co-created these characters, and yes, he was also responsible for Loaded Weapon. Alan Myerson directed.
