I really wanted to like this movie, which I'd spent almost thirty years hoping to eventually see but not making any strong effort for.  Well, it didn't live up to the acclaim or my hopes.  I mean, it's an adequate movie about an adequate Irish cover band, with a few nice touches, like the Elvis-worshiping father of the manager.  Roddy Doyle co-wrote the screenplay based on his novel, and Alan Parker directed.
