Could've been worse.  This is based on Catherine Ryan Hyde's novel and directed by Mimi Leder, who did a fine job with On the Basis of Sex, but this is more on a the level of Deep Impact.

Yurek Bogayevicz, as writer-director, is presumably responsible for the poor acting, especially by a miscast Osment as a blond, blue-eyed Jewish boy passing as a Catholic during World War II.
