The story, obviously based on then five-year-old events, was interesting, but I didn't care about the characters and would've rather have followed around other New Yorkers on that fateful morning.  And, yes, I'm rejecting another movie starring Nicolas Cage and/or directed by Oliver Stone.

Heavy-handed.  Director Oliver Stone co-adapted star Eric Bogosian's play, which in turn is loosely based on Stephen Singular's nonfiction book Talked to Death: The Life and Murder of Alan Berg, which I read years ago and found good if disturbing.

Not exactly my kind of movie, and I tuned out long before it got too violent.  Oliver Stone adapted Billy Hayes's memoir, but apparently changed a lot.  Alan Parker directed, before he did The Commitments and Evita in the '90s.

I remember being a kid mocking the commercials for the overwrought musical.  And, sure enough, the long-delayed screen adaptation is just as overwrought.  Oliver Stone co-wrote the adaptation with director Alan Parker.

Like the student film that Morrison makes, this is a bit pretentious, although, yes, Kilmer makes a pretty Jim M.  Oliver Stone directed and co-wrote.

I just watched this up to the mid '60s, with a very saccharine opening in a stereotypical '50s town and then a slightly darker view of family life with the main character's strict parents and schooling.  I know the gist of the story though and didn't really care about following the protagonist into the Vietnam War.  Oliver Stone directed and co-wrote the script with Ron Kovic, whose autobiography this is based on.
