I know that there are people who just adore this movie, but I couldn't get into it.  Note, I tuned out before much of the recognizable cast showed up.  Emile Ardolino directed, five years before Dirty Dancing, another beloved movie that didn't gel for me.

I'm giving the movie the same grade I gave the Terry McMillan novel (reviewed here https://rereadingeverybookiown.blogspot.com/2013/10/how-stella-got-her-groove-back.html), although it did not, as least in the first quarter hour, have the same flaws.  Well, I didn't care about Stella in either version, but here she's just dull, and Winston doesn't show up until later.  Kevin Rodney Sullivan directed, seven years before Guess Who.

This isn't bad for what it is, sort of a low-rent (but still celebrity-filled) entry in the Naked Gun genre, but I didn't laugh once in fifteen minutes.  Gene Quintano directed and co-wrote.
