I was surprised to discover that this is based on a true story, because the writing and acting are a bit cliched and stilted.  Joseph Kosinski directed.

While this definitely isn't my kind of movie, I did like the quasi-1940sness, like with the dialogue.  It might've even been a C- or C if less violent, although I know that's too much to ask.  Alex Proyas directed and co-wrote, four years after The Crow.
