I'd of course heard of this movie since the time but never had much interest in it.  I will say I like the setting, but I didn't care about the story.  This is based on the Stephen King novella The Body, and directed by Rob Reiner.

I liked this movie much more than I expected, since the premise is not of a sort that usually appeals to me.  But I thought the performances were good and I was pleased that it's more psychological horror than gory horror.  There were some threads that hung loosely (for instance, why is Ray too saintly to resist flatlining, and what is his backstory?), but overall it worked for me.  And, no, I haven't seen the 1990 version.  Niels Arden Oplev directed.

While this definitely isn't my kind of movie, I did like the quasi-1940sness, like with the dialogue.  It might've even been a C- or C if less violent, although I know that's too much to ask.  Alex Proyas directed and co-wrote, four years after The Crow.

This started out as a series but got reedited into a movie, and it's shelved in the movies at my library (as part of a set with Armitage: Dual Matrix, but this came up first).  In any case, it's violent and otherwise unappealing.   I'm tagging the voice actors I recognize, although I'm not positive I heard all of them.
