For horror, this wasn't terrible (the first quarter hour anyway), but it is based on Henry James's The Turn of the Screw, which I've never read. Floria Sigismondi directed.
The acting, writing, and direction (by Roland Emmerich) aren't great, but I sort of liked that this focuses on the "homefront side," before actual war (Revolutionary) breaks out.
