While I liked the deliberate anachronisms and found the Chaucer character a scene-stealer, I don't think this movie sustains itself for the whole two-plus hours. Also, it offers an odd blend of misogyny and feminism with its three main female characters. That said, it's a tough movie to dislike. Brian Helgeland wrote and directed.

The brothers (Damon and Ledger) pretend to be witch-hunters, when I'd rather see them travel around gathering stories and writing them down. Terry Gilliam directed but this isn't even on the level of Brazil.
